Alma Pond/Beaver Lake

Location:                             County Road 38 (Fourmile Road), Alma, Allegany County
Directions:                           From Route 19 south of Wellsville, turn right onto County Road 29 South at York Corners. 
Turn right onto County Road 38 (Fourmile Road). The DEC parking area and launch site is 2.7 miles from this corner, on the left, marked with a sign �Alma Pond Fishing Access Site.�
Launch Site #1:                   The DEC launch site 2.7 miles from the corner of Routes 38 and 29 has room to park 10 cars. It has a small dirt ramp with a 15-yard carry from the parking area.
Launch Site #2:                   3.3 miles west of the corner of Routes 38 and 29 is a short dirt road to a parking area and launch at the dike.
Launch Sites #3&4:            You can also launch from the 2 small parking areas shown on the map.
Best Season to Visit:           Spring, summer and fall

Paddling Distance:              The lake is 1.7 miles long. From the DEC launch site to the dike at the western end is 0.5 mile.

Watch for the resident bald eagle and osprey as you paddle this undeveloped lake. It�s part of Honeoye Creek, created by a dike at the western end. The eastern end has a lily swamp, marsh areas, and an island to paddle around. You�ll see a few small camps around this lake but otherwise it�s all natural, a lowland nestled at the base of steep hills.
